Billionaire's Son Spends RMB2.5 Million at a KTV
By Justine Lopez
For your average Joe, buying a RMB22 cup of coffee at Starbucks every day is enough to make their wallet weep. But that definitely is not the case for Wang Sicong, the son of Beijing’s wealthiest billionaire and the richest man in China, Wang Jianlin.
Wang has a special talent for spending his father’s money in, some would say, the most frivolous ways possible. According to nextshark.com, Wang spent RMB2.5 million at a KTV. And no, it wasn’t over the course of a year. This was in a single night. According to the article, six receipts from the KTV were signed by Wang, and they added up to a grand total of more than USD386,000.
This isn’t the first time that Wang has gone on a spending spree during a wild night on the town. Last Halloween he somehow managed to spend a whopping RMB200,000 on food and drinks while partying with his crew in one of Sanlitun’s fancy nightclubs. And let’s not forget the time when he made headlines for spending RMB250,000 on two, yes two, golden Apple Watches for his dog, Keke.
Spending more money than most will ever see in their lives may seem unfathomable to normal folks. But when your father is the billionaire behind China’s largest commercial property company, Dalian Wanda, it’s apparently no big thing. It is estimated that Wang's father is now worth a total of USD34.4 billion. And judging from Wang's spending habits, it’s fair to say that he is reaping the rewards of his father's success.
To put in perspective, the USD386,000 that Wang recently spent equates to well over 100,000 cups of Starbucks coffee. That’s probably enough coffee to fuel the entire staff here at That’s for a lifetime – or at least a few years.
